Taking A Time Out From Pre-Workout Supplements

Taking A Time Out From Pre-Workout Supplements

There is one piece of vital information that is rarely talked about concerning pre-workout supplements; how to take a break from them. Because you're reading this now I'm going to assume your not new to pre-workout supplements. I bet you can still remember your first time ever taking one, and how intense and enjoyable it was. You felt remarkable energy, drive, and motivation which made for some insane workouts. But what followed then? After a few weeks, you notice the effects can no longer be felt from 1 scoop. So you double it up, even triple, but you can't get back to the same level! You notice its even starting to make you more exhausted than you had been!

This can be incredibly confusing and frustrating, and more and more people are starting to experience this. How could it possibly make me more tired? This article isn't here to tell you not to use them; I'm a long time fan myself! What it will do is teach you why you're feeling this, and a few wise decisions that can help you to go beyond it. This will keep up your intense gym schedule, and allow you to enjoy using these supplements for years to come without making them ineffective.

Why Are You Getting So Tired?

As we all know, Caffeine plays a huge part in these, among other stimulants like Yohimbe Extract and others. DMAA (1 3 dimethylamylamine) also used to play a big part in this feeling, but has been recently prohibited. Simply speaking, when we ingest stimulants it sends a message to our brains to release cortisol and adrenaline into our blood. Both of these are made within our adrenal glands located on top of each kidney. In a way, you can think of these two glands as little energy tanks for our bodies.

As we begin to consistently take in high levels of stimulants with pre-workouts, you start to put more and more stress on these glands, but they do have a maximum output each day. And so, with them being worked harder to produce these chemicals, the body does not have enough time to refuel them properly. So how do we keep them on full as much as we can?

By taking time off from the stimulants!

If you can be strict with yourself and stick to relatively short cycles of 4-6 weeks of use, then 1-2 weeks off with very low stim consumption - this will allow the body to full regenerate it's energy reserves, and get you back on the right path. I know this isn't always easy with how caffeine is found in a lot of things of these days. This means no party drugs, no soda pop, no coffee, no tea, no pre-wo's etc...Stimulant free pre-workout supplements are also useful here. This can lead to some signs of withdrawal like headaches, and anxiety, but it will be well worth it at the end. You will get the original experience back, and it will be just like your first time.
