Introduction To High School Football Recruiting Procedure

The high school football recruiting process is not for the weak willed, but for the determined. There are a lot of things that you need to know in order to come close to playing for the college of your dreams. This may be difficult at first, but later on your sacrifices will help bring you closer to your ultimate goal.


There is a lot of competition when you want to get to the next level. The studies have shown that each year there are more and more students who are doing everything they can to play at a collegiate level. It is important that you are familiar with a few basic but important steps when it comes to this process.

One of the key factors to getting into a good University and most often neglected would be your grades. You must take into account the new required courses that the NCAA has increased in English and math. If you are unsure about what else you need to do in order to gain credit with this association, get the advice of a guidance counselor.

If you have not registered with the NCAA, then you should get to it as soon as possible. The best time to do this would be before your junior year. This validation procedure is what will help acknowledge the fact that you are a legitimate student athlete. It used to be called the NCAA clearinghouse but is now renamed into NCAA Eligibility Center.

The next step is to put together a list of the schools that you think can help you athletically and in your academics as well. You should make sure to do this before your junior year too in order to get a grasp of which University can truly help you in the future. This is also a great way to see if the sport that you wish to play already has a 2 or more people that play in your position.

If this is the case, then you can consider another academy to attend where you will have a better chance of being able to be active on their roster. Meanwhile, during the summer you can enroll yourself in sports camps. These places are great for student athletes because they will help you get noticed by coaches and also improve your skills.

It is in these same camps that many University coaches look to fill up their rosters. When you are meeting with a coach or contacting them it is best to do it yourself. This can help your potential instructor get to know you better as a person and an athlete. It is very important to be friendly and on your best behavior during these meetings.

The most important thing about high school football recruiting is the video you send in. You need to make sure that it features at least 12-15 highlight plays as well as your skills in your chosen sport. When the quality is good and professional looking, you can have a better shot at getting in your soon to be trainer's good side and reaching your dreams.
